
1) Ad Hoc Committee on Seat Belt The Junior Leagues of Georgia support the Senate Bill 5.
Senate Bill 5 covers the current legislation up for vote regarding closing the loophole for the seat belt law which currently allows certain vehicles (pickup trucks, for instance) to be exempt from that law.
2) Ad Hoc Committee on Human Trafficking
No Public Stand at this time on Human Trafficking.
3) Ad Hoc Committee on New Issues - Texting While Driving
The Junior Leagues of Georgia support House Bill 23. House Bill 23 is the legislation up for vote regarding outlawing cell phone use and texting while driving for minors.
Members of the State Public Affairs Committee (SPAC) of the Junior Leagues of Georgia along with the Junior League of Atlanta successfully advocated for the passage of House Bill (HB) 200 which strengthens the law regarding human trafficking in the state of Georgia. The bill signing was held on May 3, 2011 at My Sister's House, an affiliate of the Atlanta Union Mission, with approximately 100 people in attendance, including members of the State Public Affairs Committee representing all the Junior Leagues of Georgia.
